Married Men and Online Dating: Part One by Richard P. Douglas

Using an Internet singles or matchmaking site can be a hazardous way to find a single man. Too many married men who want illicit relationships with other women present themselves online as being single. Fortunately for women who have had problems with this in the past, there are tricks you can use to determine if the man's really single. While the results aren't always conclusive, they can help you decide whether or not to trust your gut instinct about a guy.

One warning sign is if someone is reluctant to post a picture of themselves on their online dating profile. Sometimes single, upright people, are just shy about showing themselves online, and others may have exaggerated their appearance in their profiles, but a lack of a picture may also be a sign of a married man. Married men are often concerned that their online profile will be discovered and that they will be identified through their photo, so they are often reticent about posting a picture. However, this is warning flag, but not necessarily an iron clad rule. There are plenty of other reasons why a profile might lack a picture, so don't jump to conclusions based on this alone.

A married man is usually going to be the first one to initiate contact. Married men are online in the dating scene trolling for someone to date. This means they are more likely to communicate first. Again this is just one aspect of the whole picture on separating married men from the pile. You have to look at other things as well.
